Second Pond to Lake Flower


This paddle offers a close-to-town paddle with a backcountry feel. Reaching Oseetah Lake from Second Pond, you'll be able to spot some classic Saranac Lake mountains, including Scarface and Mckenzie. This paddling trip is also part of the Saranac Lake paddling challenge, and for good reason, as it ends in the heart of the community.
How to get there
Parking is located at the Second Pond boat launch on the south side of State Route 3, 3.5 miles west of Saranac Lake. Parking is available for 75 vehicles, with spots for trailers.

Paddling
Put in at Second Pond boat launch and make your way down the river as you begin this 6 mile trip. Pass through the Lower Locks and enter the open waters of Oseetah Lake. Here, you’ll enjoy some stunning 360 degree views that include Baker and McKenzie Mountains, as well as some of the High Peaks. Continue making your way down the river using the boat channel markers as a guide and you will soon reach Lake Flower. As you round the corner, the pretty town of Saranac Lake is straight ahead and your destination is close to the end of the lake near town at the Lake Flower boat launch.
